Joyce Okahashi, RN
Joyce Okahashi, R.N is a research nurse with the Center for Health Services Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She plays an instrumental role in the Delirium and Cognitive Impairment Study Group by screening, enrolling and collecting data on consented subjects. For the past few years she has been a Research Nurse Coordinator, based at the Clinical Research Center at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in affiliation with the University of Hawaii. She was responsible for assisting investigators with the development of research protocols, applications, IRB submissions, consenting, collecting specimens and conducting patient visits. Research studies included the areas of cancer, prenatal development, sexually transmitted diseases and conditions related to cultural practices of minorities. She received her nursing degree from Florida College and has worked as a nurse in critical care for 20+ years in Florida and Hawaii. She has been certified in critical care, CCRN, for the majority of her practice. Her work experience has included medical, surgical, trauma and cardiac intensive care. In addition to critical care she has worked as a case manager, IV therapy coordinator, information specialist in telephonic nursing and the Hawaii Poison Center, and assisted with staff development. |
