Venice Anderson, MA is a Neuropsychological Specialist with the ICU Delirium and Cognitive Impairment Study Group at the Vanderbilt Center for Health Services Research and the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She received her MA in Counseling Psychology from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN in May, 2005. Previously, she conducted neuropsychological assessments exploring the long-term cognitive, emotional, and functional outcomes in trauma ICU survivors. Mrs. Anderson also worked as a trainer/research clinician in a study exploring effective clinical interventions for family members of substance abusers. In addition to research experiences, she has worked as a psychological assistant administering psychological assessment batteries for law enforcement staff and as a family services counselor and case manager in both psychiatric hospital and community-based mental health settings.
In her current role as a member of the ICU Delirium and Cognitive Impairment Study Group, Mrs. Anderson coordinates and implements the neuropsychological components of the BRAIN ICU & MIND ICU projects across four sites in Nashville, TN. She is involved in an investigation that focuses on the effects of delirium and critical illness on long-term cognitive functioning as well as the study of wide-ranging psychological disorders such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in patients after critical illness. Mrs. Anderson is a member of the International Psychogeriatric Association.
